About Us

It sure is hard to believe, but The Kitchen Shoppe & Cooking School celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2014.  Sue Hoffman opened The Kitchen Shoppe in 1974 in the small building next door to the current location.  She began by selling kitchen gadgets and appliances, but realized that people needed and/or wanted instruction on using the items they were buying - thus the Cooking School was born.  Some of the first small appliances that were demonstrated included the microwave and food processors.  We have come a LONG way!!!

The Kitchen Shoppe & Cooking School now carries gourmet foods; kitchen gadgets and tools; cookware of the highest quality; small appliances such as slow cookers, pressure cookers, the VitaMix; and everything in between.

The Cooking School has hosted a plethora of guest chefs over the years.  Classes have included instruction on making pizza, pasta, pierogi, cake decorating and, recently, cooking on The Big Green Egg.

We have expanded our class structure to welcome private groups that may be celebrating a birthday or hosting a fund-raiser, businesses that want to incorporate team building with hands-on classes, and corporations and small groups that want to use our facility for business meetings.  We've also welcomed bus tours stopping by for lunch-and-learn classes as they tour the Cumberland Valley.

Yes, we sure have been busy these past 45 years!!!

We appreciate our long-time customers, newcomers and everyone in between.  We know there are a lot of choices when it comes to where you shop, so we thank you for your business these past 45 years.  We look forward to providing you with the latest products, knowledgeable service, and innovative classes as we work toward celebrating our 50th anniversary!

Family owned and operated since 1974.
